Ricinus communis, the castor bean or castor plant is found in tropical areas. Flora Naturalle castor bean is grown locally on our farms in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica . There are over 22 different variety of beans identified based on there size. Depending on the variety the castor seeds contains 25- 45% of oil. The seeds, leaves and stems of the plant contain ricin which is poisonous to humans and animals, however when boiled this toxic compound is not found in the oil.
